School Diary is the true record of a student’s academic performance and conduct. It is to be signed by Principal/Vice Principal/Asst. Principal or their delegates. It must be maintained with utmost care. Damaged/poorly cared diary is a sign of lack of diligence/interest on the part of a student in academic excellence and character formation.
Every student must have a copy of the School Calendar and it must be brought to school on every class-day. A student who does not have his diary may be sent back home. Losing a school calendar/poor care for diary is a serious fault. A fine of Rs. 200/-has to be paid to get a 1 new calendar
No remarks once written in the diary can be cancelled by anyone other than Principal/Vice-Principal/Asst. Principal. Deliberately damaged or mutilated diaries shall be dealt with under disciplinary rules.
Every student must possess an identity card issued by the school. This card must be renewed periodically. Pupils are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings. Each article should be marked with pupil’s name.
Students are to address their teachers and all members of the School Staff with due respect and politeness Arrogant and challenging behaviour towards teaching or non- teaching staff is strictly forbidden. On their way to and from school students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the high standards of our School. Any behaviour that may bring disrepute to the school must be avoided. A Student who indulges in inappropriate manner may be suspended or even dismissed.
Rude and argumentative behaviour or passing of rude/lewd/abusive/vulgar remarks against teachers, support staff will be strictly dealt with, and may lead to a weeklong suspension as the discretion of the Principal. In extreme situations, such student will be asked to take the transfer Certificate at the end of the year, and in the worst of i cases, such behaviour will lead to immediate dismissal from the school.
Leaving the classroom after the teacher leaves the class and before the arrival of the next teacher, or at the change of the period, is strictly PROHIBITED for all students. Any student detected out of class by any staff member shall be forwarded to the Principal for immediate action. Habitual avoiding classes during school hours will attract disciplinary action including asking the parents to withdraw the child from school.
Carmel School is a family and all members of the family should treat each other with respect & affection, whether they are staff, students, parents, or any of the School stakeholders. Bullying, discrimination, ragging, eve-teasing, or any sexually coloured remarks/notes/instant messages/emails/group chats whether it happens physically or out of school or in the internet domains, is strictly forbidden and shall be treated very severely if reported to the School authorities and found to be correct.
All are supposed to wear the ID card every day to School. Any misuse, mutilation, damage, interpolation to the ID card will be viewed as a strict disciplinary offence, and failing to wear ID card will also be viewed strictly. Loss of ID card or habitual non wearing of the ID card will lead to communication to parents and should be replaced immediately.
Bringing of any prohibited/banned/illegal articles to school including electronics, banned substances, alcohol, cigarettes, weapons, dangerous articles, etc. is viewed very strictly and on detection may result in immediate suspension or in serious cases, issuance of T.C. and dismissal from the school.
Any student who requires to bring any prescribed medication is permitted to bring such medication after prior application by the parents supported by medical certificate and that child will be responsible for looking after medication and taking it as per doctor’s advice.
No books/electronic media/magazines/reading material in any form, other than textbooks or library books may be brought to the school.
Pupils are forbidden to bring crackers, explosives and other related dangerous material or inflammable substances/lighters/matches/fire lighters to school. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against such offenders under rules for prohibited articles.
It is strictly forbidden to practice any illegal activities including smoking, use of drugs or intoxicants, rowdyism, rude/aggressive behaviour, discriminatory behaviour including casteism and communalism in school. Immorality, grave insubordination, contempt of authority or wilful damage to property is always a sufficient reason for immediate dismissal. Bullying and causing emotional distress to any student on school campus is a serious offence and strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who indulge in it.
Students are discouraged to bring money to the school.
Care must be taken of all school property and no students shall write or draw anything/scratch on/spoil/deface/damage the desks or chairs or any school furniture, on the walls or in any way harm things belonging to others. Damage done even by accident, shall be reported at once to the school authorities. Any damage done will be made good by the student responsible for it.
Students are not allowed to leave the schools premises without the permission of the principal and the gate pass.
Any student who is a perpetrator of any sort of abuse: verbal, physical, emotional, psychological, sexual is liable to be expelled from the School. A student who harms another in any way may be suspended or dismissed, depending on the seriousness of the abuse. A student who incites another to do the same can also face the same disciplinary measure. The School may be compelled to inform the legal authorities/police in cases requiring legal intervention according to law.
Since Carmel School is an English Medium School, it is mandatory for all students to speak only English in the school campus so as to enhance their communication abilities and become proficient in the language. In enforcement of the School rules, serious action will be taken against those found to be speaking in vernacular languages in school campus at any time other than classes/periods designated for such language instruction. A student found breaking the rules more than 5 times will be fined Rs. 100/- after which other disciplinary action may also be taken.
The school uniform is a sacred and prized possession of a student. It symbolizes the ethos and culture of the school, of which the student is an integral part. Any violation of its sanctity calls for firm disciplinary action such as suspension, termination etc. Visit to restaurants, cinema, multiplexes and other places of entertainment in school uniform is a serious breach of discipline inviting action. Students shall present a decent, neat and tidy appearance at all times including hair, nails, clothes and shoes. Use of cosmetics and accessories are not allowed in school.
Admittance into the school premises is at the sole discretion of the school authorities who reserve to themselves the right to refuse admission to anyone without assigning any reason whatsoever. At all times, exemplary behaviour is expected from students, parents and staff in the school campus and outside the school campus, and all students are expected to behave in a manner even outside school that befits a student of the school and brings honour, dignity and respect to the school and uphold the traditions of the school.
